It's better than it used to be. For some reason house music is becoming really big now and seems to be bleeding into a lot of genres like hip-hop and r&b.
In my opinion, mate, mainstream media is fast turning to mainstream news in it's own way. Everywhere I go, which is across considerable distances, people make the same jokes because of songs, and say the same catch phrases. It just seems to be another brainwashing...
Just goes to show. God wasn't always a bastard, he just got too popular. -JKane
The thing about the music industry is that it knows what people want. So it gives them that. It's why a lot of pop music sounds the same, because it's about getting people to listen to it. If people like one song, then there's a good chance that they'll like something that sounds just like it. It's all about catering to people's needs (regardless of integrity and originality). And as sad as it is, music is an industry, a business. And as angry as people might be about that, it's a reality, people make money in whatever ways they can.
mainstream music is like a weedplant, labels help artists a short time only to get most of the money and then they let die the career of the artists. labels = gardener artists = buds career = bloom phase

ReplyDeleteI think mainstream music is lacking, but I'm mainly rock and electronic. The US scene at least isn't exciting right now in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHEHEHEH i agree with rezden... and i defiantly love underground a lot more than mainstream shit.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't say.. I don't listen to much of it :P
ReplyDelete"Mainstream" may be a bit too vague. I think that the current most-popular music is popular for a reason.
ReplyDeleteIn order to succeed, however, you must never forget your roots.
By mainstream do you mean pop music? Or more generally speaking top 40s?
ReplyDeletepop, popular.
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds the same, throw some poppy synth, some bass, and have someone electronically enhanced sing. Not a fan.

The above poster is right. It puts out what appeals to the most people.
ReplyDeletemainstream works great in partys, haha
ReplyDeleteDont care about it but annoys me when people like a band just because everyone else suddenly does
ReplyDeletehorrible garbage force fed to us, ruining music forever
ReplyDeleteWell there is some merit in popular music, aimed for the masses, a powerful money generating tool.
ReplyDeleteThe music itself is not so great, mostly recycled tunes, catchy, but not a whole lot of heart.
